Vicky Smith, PhD

Vicky is a Technical Program Designer for mRNA services at TriLink. With her 14 years of experience working in the analysis of Biologics, she also helps customers troubleshoot, scale up, and optimize experimental conditions for successful outcomes in mRNA production. Before joining TriLink, Vicky worked at CPI working with recombinant proteins, antibodies, mRNA/LNPs, pDNA, adenovirus, and AAV. She led the analytical characterization for the scale-up of a self-amplifying RNA and lipid nanoparticle encapsulation process, which was part of the UK government pandemic response. Vicky has a BSc.Hons in Microbiology from the University of Edinburgh and a PhD from the University of Leeds in Structural Biology and Biophysics.

In this GEN Biotechnology webinar, Vicky Smith, PhD, an expert in RNA biology, will provide a practical blueprint for enhancing mRNA quality using proven manufacturing strategies from TriLink’s 25+ years of expertise. She will review a range of strategies to optimize critical parameters such as UTR tuning, codon optimization, cap choices, in vitro transcription (IVT) optimization, double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) reduction, base modification, and tail modifications. Smith will also discuss how each approach influences mRNA quality and potency in diverse R&D projects, as well as how scientists can access these techniques.

The key learning objectives for the webinar are:

  • Discover how to build high-quality, high-potency mRNA with practical, proven methods
  • Understand the fundamentals of mRNA design, modification, and process enhancement techniques
  • Identify and select appropriate mRNA modification solutions for effective integration into internal research projects

A live Q&A session will follow the presentations, offering you a chance to pose questions to our expert panelist.
